Another great turnout for our final AOY tournament on Dog, Whitefish & Cranberry Lakes last Saturday October 7th with 22 boats showing up at Seeleys Bay.
Luckily the forecasted morning rain stayed away until we got the registration and blast off done. It rained for about 2 hours then it got windy, then it got sunny, then it got hot.
Despite the changing conditions the fish were definitely still biting. Everybody caught their limit for a change and 17 of us managed to catch more than 10 pounds.
A big congratulations goes out to Andrew Oomen on his 3rd AOY win this year. Andrew’s mixed bag weighed 15.29 pounds sealing the deal on the 2017 AOY Title.
Honourable mention goes out to Lenny Devos who took 2nd place with 14.19 pounds and Rich Letourneau who took 3rd with 13.94 pounds. Rich also won the James Braden Ford #2 Big Fish with a 4.87 pound Bucket.
Special mention goes out to Skylar McManus who won the Bronson&Bronson #1 Big Fish with the only 5 pounder caught.

Angler of the Year
A big congratulations goes out to Andrew Oomen on his 1st Avid Angler AOY Title with ”399 points”. Even though he got hitched and was only able to fish 6 events this year, he won half of them and finished 2nd;3rd and 4th in the other 3. He led wire to wire, never relinquishing the lead and also set the record for the highest AOY point total in club history.
Kevin VanAsseldonk had another great year taking the 1’st runner up spot with 393 points. Larry MacPhail rounded out the top 3 with 390 points.
Congratulations to all off you on a great year.

Lunker of the Year
Lenny Devos’s 5.90 pound Smallmouth caught in our St. Lawrence Tournament beat out Brandon Williamson’s 5.69 pound Largemouth to take the 2017 Lunker of the Year trophy.

Rookie of the Year
First year club member Skylar McManus won the 2017 Rookie of the Year Trophy with 379 points & finished an impressive 6th overall. Ralph Haddock took the runner up spot with 369 points and James Bouvier finished 3rd with 368 points.
